The end of the year brings me to a point of self-evaluation about all areas of my life, and blogging is no different. I have to say that it has been a fun, exciting, and challenging year on MamaGab.
At the beginning of 2013, my husband and I talked about my vision for this blog. My vision was for authenticity. And in 2013, this blog has grown more than I thought it could. I almost can’t believe my eyes when I look at Google Analytics and see the readership that grows larger every single month. It’s exciting and so very humbling. I’m honestly so much more careful about what I write because I know that words are powerful. They can hurt and they can heal.
Over the course of this past year, I’ve learned what it is to be an intentional and–dare I say it?–professional blogger. I’ve moved to WordPress and I’ve also monetized my blog, so that it is now bringing in small amounts of money every month, which is a nice reward for the time I spend on it. More importantly, I love connecting and growing with readers and friends. I love praying for you and hearing that you’re praying for me.
My mission for my blog is similar to my mission for real life ministry. I look at Titus 2:3-5 and draw inspiration there:
Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands,so that no one will malign the word of God. Titus 2:3-5
In real life, I coordinate my local MOPS ministry, where it’s my goal to see this happen in each one of the small groups and on our leadership team. I want to see it happen here on my blog too–each of us growing in our walks with God, growing as wives, growing as mommies, and growing as homemakers. I don’t know everything about motherhood, and I certainly don’t know enough to tell you what choices you should make. But as a community, we can encourage one another in this journey, because it’s not an easy one. It’s no easy calling to be a mom, and we don’t need to do it alone.
So with that said, I’ve put together a reader survey, with the hopes of getting some honest feedback from all of you on ways that I can improve my blog. Maybe you have a brilliant idea for a topic that I need to cover, or maybe there’s a subject that you’d like more information about. Is there some technical aspect of my blog that drives. you. crazy. Please tell me. I’m no HTML queen, but I’ll do what I can to make this blog user-friendly and welcoming. What annoys you about my blog? What do you absolutely love? Do you have a guest post you want to submit? Email me with it! I’m always available on my Facebook page, twitter, and by email at Gabby at mamagab (dot) net. (That’s one of those weird bloggy things we do to cut down on spam).
So spill the beans! Whether you’re a frequent reader, a newcomer, or a friend who stops by to check in on our family from time to time, I want your feedback. All courteous and constructive criticism is welcome here.
