Here’s what we did on Saturday:
This is part of the process that started when I began reorganizing my kids’ rooms months ago.
We made sure the kids were inside playing with their Nana during the sale. My daughter gets a little attached to things. I caught her in tears one day last week. She said she was “praying to God to ask him to make her happy about the garage sale.” I then had to explain to her how wonderful it is to bless people with our things so that they can love them, especially since we aren’t using them anymore.
We priced the clothes and shoes at 50 cents each, and for the last hour of the sale, we let people fill grocery sacks for $1. It was definitely a success. All of our big stuff sold very quickly and we were thrilled to walk into a more spacious house afterwards. It always feels good to purge our excess.
