I’m running a half marathon. I’m running a half marathon.
Maybe if I say it enough times, I’ll actually believe it. I’ve been training for this for so long, but I’ve had so many set backs that it’s hard to believe I’m actually here.
Two years ago, I watched my twin sister run the Disney Marathon and that month, I became a runner using the Couch to 5K program.
My family is running the Disney Half Marathon and we couldn’t be more excited. Unlike every other race, what you’re wearing actually matters. The runners go in Disney-themed costumes, so I’ve been planning my outfit almost as much as I’ve been training to run those 13 miles. If you’re going to do a Disney race, go all out and go in costume. How often do you get to run through Cinderella’s castle??
So I’m running as Cinderella. As a blonde, I always loved Cinderella, and somehow I have convinced my husband to run as Prince Charming.
The inspiration started with this article from Karla Bruning. Her costume is adorable, isn’t it?
I love the modifications she made to her skirt, but I really preferred to buy a running skirt that was just right for Cinderella with zero sewing necessary.
I scoured the internet for the perfect Cinderella skirt and I found this awesome skirt.
Aren’t those peplums just swoon worthy?
I had no desire to modify a blue skirt when I could buy one already made from Rock City Skirts. They have the cutest skirts! Check out the Jessie-inspired and R2D2 skirts! Amy, the owner, was so amazing to work with on this project, so if you decide you want a custom skirt, I’m sure you’ll be thrilled with collaborating with her. The company actually sent the skirt to me for free to review. But honestly, Rock City Skirts are some of the best priced running skirts you’ll find. And trust me, I think I checked out every running skirt website on the internet!
Just look at it. The sparkles. The length. The poof. Did I mention those peplums??
And the comfort. The waist band is incredibly comfortable, which really matters when you’re running 13 miles! My sister ordered a skirt from another company for her running costume and actually had to send it back–it was far too constricting to run in for 13 miles. To replace it, she bought a cute skirt from Rock City Skirts instead, but only after trying mine on to see how comfy it is.
While the skirt really defined the outfit, a princess is nothing without her accessories to complete the look. I have 2 sets of small pearl earrings, but I knew I needed something bigger for this look. Fortunately, Pearl and Clasp sent me a pair of pearl earrings to review and they are just what I’ve been looking for.
These are 9 mm button white freshwater pearl earrings. They’re big.
And perfect for Cinderella.
But now I’m Cinderella all the time because I just love wearing these big pearl earrings. They’re so classy and timeless.

To complete the outfit, I’m wearing my trusty Brooks running shoes. I love my older running shoes, which are silver and blue Brooks Ghosts–perfect for Cinderella. But my latest Brooks are the Glycerins. They do not match my running outfit, but real runners tell me that outfit perfection doesn’t matter as much as foot comfort. Sigh. The struggle is real, ladies. Even Cinderella would tell me that shoes matter.
I ordered a blue running shirt and this cute running headband for $5ish on Etsy, from Epic Inspiration. And the outfit is complete.
I’m just hoping I can master the Cinderella hair. Or I’ll just settle for a ponytail because I am seriously hair challenged. Seriously–I’m a ten minute hair kind of girl.
But on race day, I won’t care because it’s Disney World. And while I may be a new runner and a struggling runner, I can’t think of a better place to run 13 miles.
Oh my goodness, I can’t believe I’m going to run 13 miles!
